What’s New? We have a few fun changes and additions to share! Youth Division Update We’re dividing the Youth Division into three age groups: • Child: up to age 8 • Youth: ages 9–12 • Teen: ages 13–18
The Competition includes divisions from Youth to Masters with a display of Grand Master Artwork Categories will be coming soon.
Please check the CGS website at www.californiagourdsociety.com We encourage all gourd artists to connect with a young person in one of these age groups and help spark their enthusiasm for gourds. Let’s foster exploration, creativity, and confidence in the next generation of gourd artists!
New & Updated Categories
• Illuminated — Added to all divisions (Novice through Masters). Let’s light things up! • Mixed Media Mash-up — Replacing “Anything Goes.” This category requires three different mediums or techniques in one project. Time to get creative! • Masks — New category for Advanced and Masters divisions. • America’s 250th Birthday — Special Open Division category (all levels compete together). • Musical Instruments — Another Open Division category. Welburn is planning an emphasis on musical instrument classes this year, so we thought it would be fun to join the music!
Artist Reception We’re also planning an Artist Reception on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 4–6 p.m.
