South Street Seaport Museum Announces Nautical Night of Karaoke with Nyota

The South Street Seaport Museum announces Nautical Night of Karaoke with Nyota on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 6pm–8pm. The event will take place in the first-floor gallery of the A.A. Thomson & Co. building located at 213 Water Street and tickets are $10. Tickets are available now at seaportmuseum.org/karaoke.

Make waves at a one-of-a-kind karaoke night celebrating New York’s deep connection to the water, set inside the Seaport Museum’s Maritime City exhibition. Surrounded by artwork, artifacts, and stories of the city’s maritime past, this lively evening—led by national karaoke champion Nyota—promises music, community, and waterfront vibes.



Set among the gallery, all guests are invited to take the mic and dive into a curated playlist inspired by the sea, the city, and more maritime connections. Belt out classics like “Surfin’ USA,” “Under the Sea,” and “Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay,” or bring the energy with newer favorites like “Naked in Manhattan,” “NUEVAYoL,” and “Water.” Whether you’re channeling beachy nostalgia or NYC pride, there’s a song for every kind of performer.

Expect a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere where seasoned singers and first-timers alike can shine. Grab your friends, warm up your vocals, and get ready to sing your way through the sounds of the sea—right in the heart of Maritime City. Preregistration is encouraged for this event. Walkups will be accommodated as possible. Can’t stay the full two hours? No problem! You are welcome to drop in anytime between 6pm and 8pm.

About the Host

Nyota is a Brooklyn-based vocalist known for delivering soulful performances across New York City. A dedicated karaoke enthusiast, Nyota won the New York round of the Karaoke National Championships and went on to represent the state at the national level.

The Seaport Museum’s latest exhibition Maritime City highlights how New York City, as we know it today, arose from the sea. Throughout the extensive three-floor exhibition, 540 deliberately-selected objects on view underscore how the city’s identity as a global capital of culture and finance is rooted in its origins as a seaport. By sharing the material culture of New York and its people, the exhibition highlights stories of the working class people employed by ships, shipping lines, and other local industries throughout history, as well as the emigrant workers and immigrant families that came through the port as their first stop in America. seaportmuseum.org/maritime-city

Access to the historic ships and exhibitions on view is not included with your ticket to this event. If you would like to explore more that the Museum has to offer, book in advance or ask Museum staff about General Admission tickets when you check in. General Admission is available Friday through Sunday, from 11am to 5pm and brings you aboard the 1885 tall ship Wavertree and 1908 lightship Ambrose at Pier 16, and into all current exhibitions on view in the first-floor Schermerhorn Row galleries at 12 Fulton Street.
