About this Event

This month: We get to experience the infamous Barr Lake Bird Banding Station! We will meet at the Barr Lake State Park parking lot and walk out to the banding station together for the 9:00a-10:00a session. We will then go for a bird walk from 10:00a-11:00a.

More about SPBC: South Platte Birding Club creates community and celebrates the ecosystem of the South Platte River. We meet monthly, choosing a unique birding location along the river each time. Each outing begins with snacks, conversation, and a brief presentation about an aspect of the river. Outings vary from traditional bird walks to stationary birding, depending on the interest and needs of participants. Binoculars, spotting scopes, and field guides are provided.

This club is meant for birders of all levels; Bird Conservancy will provide mentorship to new birders but also encourage the sharing of knowledge among all participants.

Accessibility Information:

• Restrooms: There are accessible restrooms in the Barr Lake Nature Center.
• Plan for around 1-1.5 miles of traveling on a flat dirt trail with little to no incline. We will travel about 1/3 of a mile to get the the Bird Banding Station where seating is available.
• Accessible parking is available.
• The Bird Banding Station is partially shaded. There will be little shade while we are walking/birding. Bring plenty of water and sun protection.
• Some adaptive equipment is available for this event such as camp chairs and a scope adapter.
