Join us for a guided walk exploring one of Highland Park's most meaningful and beautiful landscapes: the Memorial Gardens. South of Highland Avenue is an area that should be explored. It’s not just the main festival site, but a place where memorials are the focus.
On this walking tour, we’ll explore the designated Gary Beikirch Park and you will discover the many different memorial gardens and sculptures scattered in this area. We’ll examine the history, design, and purpose of the gardens, highlighting the individuals, organizations, and events they commemorate.
In addition to the memorials, the tour guide will discuss historical buildings that used to exist in this area, their uses, and some other interesting facts, including a long-lost cemetery.
Whether you're interested in history, horticulture, or simply experiencing a quieter side of Highland Park, this tour offers a unique perspective on a landscape that blends beauty, memory, and community.

This walking tour will last approximately 1.25 -1.5 hours and will traverse winding paved paths throughout the area. Please note the tour requires the ability to walk and stand throughout.
Ron is a volunteer with the Highland Park Conservancy as both Docent and Garden Steward.

Ticketing: This tour is limited and ticketed. If you are unable to attend, please be sure to cancel your ticket, freeing up a spot for another guest.
Weather Considerations: We are vulnerable to Mother Nature. This tour will be outdoors, so plan your dress and weather gear accordingly. In the event of heavy rain, thunderstorms, or high winds, the tour may be cancelled and rescheduled.
