South London Women Artists - Sisterhood

South London Women Artists (SLWA) will mark 18 years of championing women artists with a landmark exhibition at Lambeth Archives, running throughout March 2026 as part of International Women’s Month.

Founded in 2008, South London Women Artists was established to recognise and highlight the achievements of women artists working across South London. This anniversary exhibition reflects on the collective’s rich history while showcasing the strength, diversity, and continued relevance of women’s artistic practice today.

The exhibition brings together contemporary artworks, archival material, and public programming, offering audiences insight into SLWA’s evolution and the individual practices of its members. Through painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and mixed media, the exhibition explores themes of identity, visibility, community, and artistic legacy.

Key events include a Private View on Monday 2 March (5–8pm), an International Women’s Day panel discussion on Saturday 7 March (2–5pm) featuring five artists discussing collaboration and collective practice, and a Closing Event on Saturday 28 March (2–5pm).

Presented at Lambeth Archives — a site dedicated to preserving and sharing local histories — the exhibition places women artists firmly within South London’s cultural record, acknowledging both past contributions and future trajectories.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.
