"Community Threads" workshop series is launching atClay College's new Fiber Studio. The first workshop is
"South Jersey Blueberry Basket". Mary May will lead the
workshop. Mary has been weaving baskets for more than
35 years. Concentrating on South Jersey culture, Mary’s work
seeks the connection between Folk Art and history.
“In the early 1900’s, these baskets were made for carrying
berries to market. The berry basket was originally woven free
hand by the workers on the farm during the winter months.
Aer the basket was full, it was placed into a wooden box and
was delivered to New York City to be sold."
Please join us for this special presentation and
hands-on workshop at the Arts and Innovation Center.
No experience needed. Materials included.
