Join us for Damage Limitation – a practical, in-depth seminar exploring what happens after a workplace accident and how to manage the legal and financial aftermath. With insights from both legal and insurance experts, we’ll cover your obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act, RIDDOR reporting, HSE investigations and civil litigation risks.

1. The Law – discussing most relevant sections of the health and safety at work act together with examples of relevant regulations. (Terry)

2. RIDDOR – obligations and its implications. (David).

3. HSE involvement – investigations, implications, potential outcomes, what to do when contacted by the HSC, professional privilege etc (David).

4. HSC matters from an Insurance perspective – presented by John Potter Senior Risk Management Executive-Lockton LLP

5. HSE Sentencing guidelines – (Terry).

6. Case Studies – real life examples of cases dealt with by Terry. Looking at matters from both a HSE outcome perspective and from Personal Injury angle (where relevant). This will include participation from attendees such as guess the outcome, level of fines etc. (Terry).

John Potter BEng (Hons), CMIOSH Senior Risk Management Executive

John is a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner with over 30 years of risk control experience in both the manufacturing sector and the insurance industry. His expertise spans health and safety, business continuity and fleet risk management across diverse industries, from heavy industry to distribution and construction. Whilst his main remit is to help clients strengthen their risk control arrangements; John has also provided hands-on support in the aftermath of major incidents and fatalities.

A key part of his role in working for Lockton is to ensure that underwriters give due recognition for clients strengths and strategies, rather than just focus upon historical incidents.
