Carter and Holmes Orchids will be hosting an Outreach Judging Event!
If you are interested in having a plant officially judged by the American Orchid Society, or would just like to see the action please mark your calendars for Saturday October 11th, 2025.
Judging starts at 11:30 am, and we will have several esteemed judges joining us.
In addition, the nursery will be offering Behind the Scenes Tours and Special Shopping Discounts that day.
If you do plan to bring an orchid for judging, keep the following in mind
*Your plant MUST have a name tag with a name or cross recognized by the RHS. Nothing without a tag will be considered.
*Clean and groom your plant to make it pretty! Removed old foliage or stems, and clean the leaves of buildup or algae. Presentation matters.
*Make sure the stem or blooms are supported to hold the flowers in their proper position while opening. If you wait to stake the blooms at the last minute they might flip upside down.
* Nothing contagious please! Be mindful of bringing any plants with insect issues.
