South Asian Connections & Community
About this Event
South Asian Connections & Community
This is a culturally grounded lunch series (P1) created for South Asian youth and women to gather in a warm, welcoming space over food, conversation, and shared community.
Hosted at Bloom Culture Calgary on July 26 at 3:00 PM, the first part of the event will bring participants together for meaningful discussion guided by a psychologist, focusing on common but often unspoken South Asian experiences such as family expectations, identity, belonging, and the pressure to balance cultural values with personal goals. Through guided prompts, anonymous sharing, and group conversation, participants can willingly participate and talk about real issues in a safe environment or simply support others as they express!
The second part of the event sees food as a bridge for connection within South Asian culture, allowing participants to eat, enjoy and mingle with others.
The purpose of the event is to reduce isolation, build community, encourage honest dialogue, and help participants leave feeling more understood, supported, and connected.
