Sourdough Focaccia Made Simple
About this Event
Join Experience 46 Degrees at Market Vineyards for a relaxed, hands-on afternoon where you'll learn just how easy it is to make beautiful sourdough focaccia from scratch. Whether you've never baked bread before or you've been curious about sourdough for years, this class is designed to give you the confidence to do it at home.
You'll learn with a thriving sourdough starter that is more than 20 years old. It was gifted to me by a Red Mountain winemaker, and at the end of class you'll take home a portion of that same living starter—along with simple instructions so you can confidently care for it at home.
Fresh focaccia is one of the most versatile breads you can make. It's perfect for holiday brunches, soup nights, charcuterie boards, Saturday morning breakfasts before the kids' games, sandwiches, or simply served warm with dinner.
As your dough rises, we'll discover how two exceptional extra virgin olive oils—one from Italy and one from Greece—can completely change the flavor of the same piece of freshly baked bread. It's a fun bonus tasting that will give you a new appreciation for just how much olive oil can influence flavor.
You'll enjoy a glass of Market Vineyards Red Mountain AVA Merlot during class, and to continue the experience at home, you'll also receive a bottle of the same Merlot to take with you.
As a fun local connection, the sourdough starter you'll be taking home originated on Red Mountain more than 20 years ago, and 27% of the grapes in the Merlot you'll enjoy come from that very same AVA.
