About this Event

Pond, Forest, and Meadow invite you to hear their voices and echo in chorus. Come celebrate International Forest Bathing & Soundwalk Weekend at Don Valley Brick Works Park, Saturday September 12th from 4:30pm-6pm.
A soundwalk is an invitation to listen with fresh ears; to slow down, become present, and experience your surroundings through listening. Maybe you begin to notice what or who’s already there: the rustle of leaves, birdsong, footsteps, wind, water, distant voices, or the quiet between sounds. A familiar place can sound completely different when we stop to hear it.
what to expect:
We’ll gather in guided meditation to ground ourselves in our bodies and the environment. Then we’ll walk slowly and quietly through the re-naturalized quarry, exploring a series of sensory invitations to notice the soundscapes in the park’s various biomes: pond, forest, and meadow. We’ll end our time together weaving the sounds we heard into a collective chorus to serenade the land.

your guide:
ness is a certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide (ANFT) and member of Nature and Forest Therapy of Canada (NFTC). Often found wandering in a ravine talking with trees, they move with a sense of whimsy, cultivating warm, welcoming spaces where wonder can take root and curiosity can flourish. A storyteller and creative, they bring an adaptable and playful approach to helping people rediscover their relationship with nature. As a guide, they are a key opening the door to what can be experienced when you cross the threshold into the natural world.
