“Sounds of Time” is a unique listening experience featuring historic stringed instruments from the ancient Silk Road played by local multi-instrumentalist musician Chris Stephens. The performance takes the audience on a musical journey through different musical styles played on his collection of lutes from Asia and the Middle East. From medieval classical music of the royal court to timeless folk songs and everywhere in between, curious listeners can expect to hear rare forms of traditional music woven together into a tapestry of shared appreciation and beauty. Chris plays the Indian Sitar, Chinese Pipa, Turkish Saz, Persian Tar, Arabic Oud, and Japanese Shamisen each according to their time honored repertoire and authentic techniques. A truly unique musician, Chris’ performances blur the line between spirituality, entertainment, and education - incorporating geography, history, and music theory with the beautiful sounds of these beloved instruments.
