At the height of the golden age of reggae, some of Jamaica’s brightest stars left their homeland behind to shine their light in an unlikely hub of Caribbean creativity.Sounds & Pressure: Reggae in a Foreign Land follows the journeys of these musical icons. Through rare archives and infectious beats, this captivating five-part anthology series from the National Film Board of Canada takes you from Kingston to Kensington Market to see and hear how reggae made roots in Canada against all odds.
Drop by and take a seat in the Montalbano Family Theatre on Level 8 of the Central Library. The NFB is Canada’s public film and digital media producer that distributes documentary films, animation, web documentaries, and alternative dramas.
