A National Celebration Through Music

Supported by the National Endowment for the Arts through its national initiative honoring America’s semiquincentennial, this event features two concerts: a small ensemble showcase titled “Rock, Pop and Beyond!” featuring the Brass Band and Rock Band of “Fort Sam’s Own,” and “Sounding the Republic,” which features the full Concert Band.

The “Sounding the Republic” concert will be an immersive performance that explores the rich history, enduring traditions and contemporary significance of American military band music. Through music, storytelling and large-scale visual media, the program traces how military musicians have shaped national ceremonies, inspired generations of service members, strengthened communities and contributed to the cultural identity of the United States for more than two centuries.
