Sound Immersion Training

This immersive and interactive training offers a deep dive into the principles and history of sound as a therapeutic practice, rooted in the foundations of neuroscience, mindfulness, and embodied improvisation.

Participants will explore accessible, intentional, and intuitive ways to integrate sound into their personal and professional practice through playful experiential opportunities. This immersion will offer tangible tools intended to leave participants feeling inspired and empowered to build deeper relationships with sound in their daily life.

No prior experience with sound/music is necessary to benefit from this training. The curriculum is designed for anyone from the newly curious to the seasoned wellness practitioner interested in growing their understanding of the therapeutic and meditative applications of sound for groups, private clients, and self-nourishment.

● Historic Roots: sound as a therapeutic tool across cultures, honouring origins

● Basic Foundations: energy meridians, organ systems and corresponding sound tones guided by teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine

● Impacts of Sound: understanding the nervous system, brainwaves, and mental, physical and emotional body

● Integration: How & when to weave sound into personal & professional practice

● Hands-On Application: explore voicework and instruments such as crystal singing bowls, drums, chimes, and more (instruments provided by facilitator)

About Michaela:

Michaela Bekenn (she/her/they) is a certified sound therapy practitioner, yoga instructor, meditation guide, and singer-songwriter based in Tkaronto (Toronto). She is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and holds a Masters in Music Therapy. Michaela’s approach to careis anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and resource-oriented. She is a certified facilitator of Compassion-Based Resilience Training and mindfulness for stress reduction, addiction recovery, and chronic pain. With an interdisciplinary background in theatre, music, dance, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Michaela brings a holistic, intuitive, playful, and creative energy to her work. She supports people across the lifespan and abilities spectrum, working within community spaces and healthcare facilities, specializing in services for neurodiverse youth, women’s groups,corporate teams, and adults in palliative care. Michaela is passionate for integrative wellness, and is committed to creating welcoming spaces for her clients of all backgrounds and identities to feel seen, nourished, and empowered.
