The Music of Ashford & SimpsonTHE CONCERT
SOULMATES is a musical celebration that focuses on the compositions of Nicholas Ashford and Valerie Simpson. A flashback in sound, SOULMATES is a presentation of the shared lives of prolific songwriters, world-renowned performance duo and loving husband and wife. From the days of Motown to Warner Brothers, to Capitol Records, the duo penned an enviable body of hits that resoundingly placed them in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and in the hearts of fans around the world.
Nick and Val wrote music that was recorded by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, and a number of other musical legends. Originally conceived and directed as a multi week, sold out theatrical production in 2024 by Troy Burton with musical direction by Tevin Brown, SOULMATES offered music so powerful, it easily demanded and deserved its own stage within months.
In SOULMATES, an ensemble of 10 - 12 vocalists and musicians will offer performances that spark memories of lost loves one moment and then eject you from your seats for a booty shaking, head bouncing good time the next. Hear selections “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” "Is It Still Good to Ya," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Your Precious Love," "So, So Satisfied," "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand," “Solid as a Rock" and so many more.
