About this Event
Soulfecta is multi-Media Art Project that explores the crossroads of activism and subculture. We cumulatively represent over 200 years of underground DJ experience, that connects with NYC / Detroit / Atlanta’s storied nightlife subculture. This installation is a celebration of Women's History Month & birthday celebration for Deon Jamar.
We are delighted to feature CTRLZORA, K.Tea & DJ Monday Blue, 3 female selectors that are blazing a trail to the future. Our celebration of Women's History Month is accentuated by a documentary screening of Peabody Award Winning Best Documentary The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks directed by Yoruba Richen expands the record on Rosa Parks’ overlooked accomplishments and the importance of her drive and fight to overcome racial injustices and rampant inequalities.
Soulfecta is a trifecta of soul dedicated to aesthetics, racial & gender theory from whence this sub-culture evolved. The geographical terrain the culture has traversed. The intention & neuropsychology of Underground Dance Music culture.
