Soul Tending: The Art of Spiritual Self-Care
Join catalyst/author and retreat leader Renee Trudeau for an embodied spirituality experience exploring various ways to connect with the Divine in everyday life—including through song, gentle movement, meditation and more. Bring a journal/pen and a photo of yourself between the ages of three-five.
Renee Peterson Trudeau
The oldest of seven children, Renee was raised in a wildly creative Montessori and Waldorf- inspired household steeped in music, science, philosophy, art and yoga. In the mid 1970s, her parents—a physician and a musician/artist—left their comfortable, conventional life in San Antonio, TX and moved Renee and her four brothers to the wilderness of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains to create a new life centered around nature, spirituality and simplicity. They lived in a two-bedroom home with a wood-burning stove, rode horses bareback to school, and wrote poetry, read Sanskrit texts and made stained glass and pottery. Years later, between 1992-2000, Renee tragically lost her mom, dad and 20 year-old brother. These early deaths were wakeup calls for Renee to stay awake and alive and challenged her to never sleepwalk through life. A nationally-known catalyst/author/thought leader and teacher, Renee has written several award-winning life balance books, she facilitates women’s retreats at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, Esalen Institute, 1440 Multiversity, the Art of Living Retreat Center and Omega Institute and she’s a sought-after media expert on the topics of self-care and resiliency. A graduate of the Wisdom Heart Mystery School in Austin, TX, her pioneering work has been featured in Yoga Journal, The New York Times, Spirituality & Health, O Magazine and more. Originally from Austin, TX, she lives with her husband in Brevard, NC; their son, a jazz musician/artist, lives in New York City. Renee loves teaching embodied spirituality and finds joy through dancing, leading song circles, making soup with local veggies for friends/family and taking long, meandering forest hikes. www.ReneeTrudeau.com
ABOUT THE KANUGA LUNCH & LEARN SERIES:
Kanuga's Lunch & Learn series provides a meaningful gathering space for the community to come together and discuss relevant and impactful topics. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Kanuga's 1,400-acre outdoor sanctuary, the series offers an ideal environment for fostering connection and healing. The serene, natural setting helps visitors reconnect with nature and promotes healing and reflection before engaging in thoughtful discussions. This blend of intellectual content within a spiritual and natural space creates a unique and enriching experience.
Weather permitting, join us early for a Nature Immersion experience. For each session, our Community and Spiritual Life Coordinator, Aimee, will facilitate a Nature Immersion experience in Kanuga's beauty before each Lunch and Learn offering. Nature Immersions foster a sense of wonder, appreciation, and connection while promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and healing. This activity does not involve rigorous hiking but walking slowly and savoring all that Nature is showing us. This activity can be adapted for those with mobility issues.
