Discription of Soul Shop™ for Parent

Soul Shop for Parents is a supportive 1½-hour workshop designed to help parents feel more confident talking with their youth about emotional struggles, desperation, and suicide. Also, it provides an overview of what young people learn in Soul Shop for Youth — including recognizing distress, building trusted support networks, and reaching out for help — so parents can continue these important conversations at home.

Parents learn signs to watch for when a young person may be struggling, ways to ask in caring and direct questions that build trust, how to listen in helpful ways, and how to guide youth toward appropriate next steps for support. The workshop also explores why these conversations can be difficult and reflects briefly on biblical stories of human desperation to normalize honest, hope-filled dialogue within families.

This training equips parents with practical tools to respond with compassion and confidence. It is valuable for any parent, especially for those whose youth will attend Soul Shop for Youth in the coming days, helping families build connection, understanding, and hope together.
