Join us in the school library to hear updates from the principal and teachers, and learn about opportunities to work together to support our school.Due to the election on April 1st, we have decided to shift our April Steering Committee meeting to April 8th.
This meeting will feature officer nominations. There are lots of opportunities to get involved! Please see below for details

Officer Nomination Information:
Nominations are open for officer positions within the SOTA I Steering Committee! This is a great way to get involved and support our school--we need your time and talents!
Self-nominations are welcome. You may submit nominations via email, or in person at the April 8th Steering Committee meeting. If you would like to nominate someone else, they must accept the nomination; please ensure you have OK'd their nomination in advance. Nominees can accept via email or in person. Emails can be sent to [email protected]. Please know that current Steering Committee officers are committed to helping ensure a smooth transition, offering to provide guidance and help to those who are new to a role for next year.
Officer positions include the four core positions that make up the Board of Directors, as well as supporting positions:
A. President (s): the president calls & presides over meetings, determines agendas, submits minutes. Member of the Board of Directors
B. Vice President (s): performs the same duties in the president's absence, represents the president when delegated & performs duties as assigned, ensures the committee follows the bylaws, prepares/collects/tabulates election ballots during all school votes. Member of the Board of Directors
C. Secretary(s): record minutes for meetings. Member of the Board of Directors
D. Treasurer(s): receives all money and keep accurate records, distributes funds, signs checks (along with the president), present financial reports & prepare annual reports. Member of the Board of Directors.
E. District-Wide Parent Representative(s): Represent the SSC & school on the District-Wide Parent Committee, provide a report & solicit input at SSC meetings.
F. Community Building Rep(s): Develop community building events, organizing parents to provide assistance with community building, submit budget proposals before events and receipts to treasurer.
G. Fundraising Officer(s): coordinate fundraising activities, submit proposals for fundraising activities.
H. Volunteer Coordinator(s): Solicit input from staff on volunteer needs, solicit parent volunteers/create talent bank, schedule volunteers
J. Technology Officer(s): maintain SOTA I SSC website, act as liaison between SOTA I and II regarding websites, act as a resource for technology issues.
K. Yearbook Officer(s): Compile pictures throughout year, determine company to assemble yearbook in consultation with principal/district, handle orders & distribution of yearbooks.
L. Attending Officer(s): Attend all Steering Committee Meetings, be a voting member of the committee .
Voting may be necessary if more than one person is nominated for a role. If voting takes place, paper ballots will be sent home during the month of April. New officers will be sworn in at the May meeting.
