Course Description:
This four-hour course provides public safety personnel, emergency management professionals, communications personnel, amateur radio operators, and volunteer responders with a practical understanding of communications interoperability. Participants will learn how agencies communicate during planned events, disasters, and major incidents while complying with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Incident Command System (ICS).
Recommended Audience: Law enforcement officers, fire service personnel, EMS providers, emergency management staff, dispatchers, communications unit personnel (COML/COMT), amateur radio operators, CERT members, and SORT volunteers.
Prerequisites: FEMA IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700 (recommended but not required). This course is suitable for personnel with basic radio knowledge who want to strengthen their understanding of interoperable emergency communications.
There are 25 slots for this class.
