Sorry, Wrong Number (1948), directed by Anatole Litvak, and starring Barbara Stanwyck, Burt Lancaster and Ann Richards.Classic noir starring Barbara Stanwyck as a bedridden woman who, one night while waiting for her husband to return home, picks up the phone and accidentally overhears a conversation between two men planning a murder. She becomes increasingly desperate as she tries to work out who is the victim, so the crime can be prevented.

The film was based on a highly successful radio drama that Orson Welles called “the greatest single radio script ever written”. Stanwyck was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress.
