Soorya NYC presents folk and traditional arts to encourage cultural exchange centered on the local Sri Lankan community. Presented by the Center for Traditional Music and Dance, Soorya NYC helps to sustain the continuity of Sri Lankan heritage in NYC and share these traditions with the wider public. In an effort to unify the region’s Sri Lankan community and encourage interethnic and interfaith conversations through the arts in a post-conflict diasporic milieu, The Center for Traditional Music and Dance produces meaningful content that takes a deeper look at the island nation’s history, culture, and living traditions.
