Sonoma County's Punk Underground, feat. Performance by Victims Family

In the 1970s and ’80s, while much of America retreated into suburbia or back-to-the-land idealism, a generation of disaffected youth in Sonoma County built something loud and defiantly independent. United by a distrust of Reagan-era politics, disco gloss and institutional authority, local punks created a tight-knit creative community rooted in DIY ethics, self-expression, and mutual support. What began as alienation evolved into a force that helped shape music and underground culture for decades to come.

From 5–7 p.m., step into the raw, rebellious world of Sonoma County’s underground punk scene at Disturbing the Peace, an immersive exhibition at the Museum of Sonoma County tracing the rise of a subculture that refused to play by the rules.

One block away at 8 p.m., after exploring the exhibition’s grand opening, witness a rare show by Victims Family, Sonoma County’s longest-running punk band, with openers The New Trust and A New Low — and experience the enduring sound and spirit of the local punk scene live at Barrel Proof Lounge.
