About Viva Palestina Orchestra:
Viva Palestina Orchestra (VPO) is an Austin-based collective that performs Palestinian resistance music. Founded in November of 2023, the orchestra’s repertoire centers around Palestinian and Levantine heritage preservation, and celebrates culture, poetry, resilience through music, storytelling, and community engagement. Comprising musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, the VPO ensemble blends their voices to uplift Palestinian narratives and lives.
Since its inception, VPO has performed regularly throughout Austin, actively participating in events and festivals that empower the community and fundraise for humanitarian causes. On January 28th, 2024, VPO self-produced the Free Falasteen Fest fundraiser at The Museum of Human Achievement. The ensemble’s outreach has fostered Palestinian and Levantine heritage preservation within Austin, with the intention to serve communities throughout all regions of Texas.
During the Spring of 2025, VPO received a City of Austin Proclamation “Viva Palestina Orchestra Day” (March 27th) and performed at the We Love Life Palestine Benefit Weekend in Houston, TX. This multigenerational collective shares the vision that music, culture, storytelling, and poetry can unite and heal, while raising awareness of injustice and racism.
