How can you write a song inspired by nature and whisky? And how do you distill all the impressions and inspiration you gather into a finished song?In this unique workshop, led by award-nominated singer, songwriter and composer Christine Kammerer, we will learn how to draw inspiration from – among other things – the interaction between nature, the water of life, the local tales and folklore, and our interaction with them.
Kammerer will have spent the week leading up to the workshop, writing music inspired by the area and will give the group a unique insight into her methods as well.We will immerse ourselves in the beautiful nature surrounding Moffat Distillery and then return to the distillery to create music.
The workshop is open to both doing solo work, and to working in a group.
In this workshop you will:
* Learn how to draw inspiration from your surroundings, and create a framework from the inspiration you have harvested
* To remove your “idea” of what the song should be and lean into the integrity of the story that wants to be told. And watch the magic unfold
* Learn how to create a basic song structure
* Learn tools to overcome writer’s block
* Be introduced to methods and techniques for writing lyrics and melodies
* Be introduced to basic chord structures which can aid your songwriting
* Be introduced to tools, sites, and communities which can help you continue your songwriting after the workshop
On the day you will also get:
- Lunch
- Free entre to the evening concert with Christine Kammerer, incl. a drink (non-alc options available)
