About this Event

We all have stories and songs inside us! Sometimes we need a bit of help getting them out.

In this workshop, Carol Laula and Clare McBrien (Mima Merrow) will take you through creative exercises to find yours. Whether you’ve never written a song before or you have a notebook bursting with ideas, this session will be a relaxed, friendly space to learn ways to craft your own tune. You might even leave the session with your first-ever song!

Donations raised from this session will go towards Givin’ it Laldie, a community music organisation based in the Gorbals, Glasgow. Our music sessions for folks aged 9 to 99 bring people from diverse backgrounds together to improve health and well-being, create community, and improve access to arts and culture in the area.

Between them, Carol and Clare have over 50 years’ experience writing, recording, and performing original songs, as well as facilitating songwriting sessions in almost every setting imaginable. Whether it be for mothers to sing to their young children, teenagers experiencing homelessness, or asylum seekers and refugees, they love nothing more than to work with people to find their own unique voice through writing. Their practical, down-to-earth approach supports people to overcome their initial nerves and write something they are proud of.
