Songwriting Circle for Beginners
About this Event
This beginner-friendly workshop breaks down music composition and songwriting for all levels and types of musicians!
Songwriting is more than just fun; it’s a creative way to express thoughts and emotions while developing literacy, language, and communication skills. Not only does this workshop provide the foundations of songwriting, but it also creates a collaborative circle where participants can brainstorm and share ideas, guided by facilitator Sandra.
What to bring:
- Yourself (and a friend, if you'd like!)
- Your preferred method of writing and brainstorming (notebook and pencil, tablet, or computer)
- An instrument of your choice (optional/there is a guitar on site)
What we’ll do:
- Deconstruct our favourite songs to analyze their structure and composition.
- Explore basic yet dynamic chord progressions, and fun and clever rhyme schemes.
- Jump into fun, guided writing exercises to spark creativity.
- Collaborate (if you want to): Share your work-in-progress, and give and receive feedback in a supportive, optional community circle.
