The next Songwriters at the Speakeasy show is May 12 at 7 PM at Broadway Roxy, in the basement. It will feature the exceptional Evan Holm, frontman and chief songwriter for golden-era honkytonk act Extra Gold, and Zach Boddicker, leader and songwriter of the great 4H Royalty and former lead guitarist for Drag the River, Marty Jones & the Great Unknowns and other semi-twang acts. Evan has great songs and charisma and a stirring voice. His 70s-style band's music calls to mind Marshall Tucker, the Allman Brothers and Gary Stewart. Zach Boddicker's songs are highlights of his band's three long-players and make "Where UFOS Go to Die" one of the best Colorado recordings of all time. He is also the author of three highly entertaining and smartly written CO-minded novels including his latest, "The Shih-TSU." Marty Jones is hosting the show, admission is free and tips for the performers are welcome. Talking during songs is not. This is a listening show.
