Leading Australian soprano and composer Jane Sheldon, best known for her original recording of Eliza Aria by Elena Kats-Chernin, has established an international reputation for performing and creating highly specialised, groundbreaking art music for voice. She has been praised by the New York Times for singing “sublimely,” the Sydney Morning Herald for “a brilliant tour de force,” and The Australian for “mesmerising emotional truth.”Songs of Eve is an evocative celebration of the divine in nature and features La Chanson d'Ève (The Song of Eve) by Gabriel Fauré. Eve, alone, discovers the Garden of Eden unfolding before her. The music is revealed like a garden coming into full bloom.
Jane will also present the exquisite Wolken (Clouds), a contemporary gem by the French composer Pascal Dusapin based on poems of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Jane will be joined at the piano by Jack Symonds, close collaborator, friend and Artistic Director of Sydney Chamber Opera. He is also an accomplished composer with his latest work the opera Gilgamesh which premiered in Sydney to great acclaim.
