About this Event
Every year, hundreds of young adults age out of foster care without the family, support, or resources they need to thrive. Songs for the NEXT is more than a concert—it’s an opportunity to change that story. Proceeds from this intimate evening directly support I AM NEXT, helping foster youth transition into adulthood through safe housing, workforce development, driver’s education, life-skills training, mentoring, and ongoing support.
To bring this mission to life, we’ve gathered three exceptional Nashville songwriters for an authentic writers round where you’ll hear not only the songs you know and love, but also the stories behind them.
Marcus Hummon is a Grammy-winning songwriter whose catalog includes iconic hits like “Cowboy Take Me Away” by The Chicks and “Bless the Broken Road,” made famous by Rascal Flatts. His songs have also been recorded by artists including Tim McGraw, Sara Evans, and Wynonna Judd, making him one of Nashville’s most celebrated storytellers.
Chris Sligh is an acclaimed singer-songwriter and the writer of “Here Comes Goodbye,” recorded by Rascal Flatts. Known for his heartfelt lyrics, humor, and engaging stage presence, Chris creates performances that are both inspiring and unforgettable.
Becca Rae is one of Nashville’s rising songwriting talents, with songs recorded by artists including Megan Moroney, Kameron Marlowe, and others. Her honest storytelling and fresh perspective have quickly earned her recognition throughout Music City.
