Song Circle Workshop - Songs of Hope
Schedule
Sat Jan 17 2026 at 01:00 pm to 03:00 pm
UTC-08:00Location
Rotary Field House: 850 Third St. Nanaimo | Nanaimo, BC
Accessible, harmony-rich songs about HOPE, from the community singing movement, are taught by call and response in the oral tradition. Some songs have 3 or 4 harmony parts / layers, while others have a simple structure with opportunity for harmonies to arise organically. There are sometimes actions or easy body percussion to accompany the songs, and always freedom to move. All voices are welcome regardless of background - it’s about joy and connection, not perfection!
Please bring a mug for ginger lemon tea; I’ll also bring paper cups.
Admission is on a sliding scale, to provide access to folks with different background and economic access: $15 - 30; please choose what feels both generous and affordable to you.

Walk-ins welcome while capacity allows

Sylvia also hosts community singing events and workshops, and has become known for her joyful and skilled leadership, creating warm, accessible spaces where people rediscover the magic of shared harmony. Sylvia is a graduate of Community Choir Leadership Training and a member of the Ubuntu Choirs Network which shares the belief that singing together is a universal human birthright and can change the world
