Son Cubano is one of the fundamental roots of Salsa music and dance. This special 1.5-hour Son Cubano Masterclass with Maestro Vivio offers an opportunity to explore the distinctive rhythm, timing, movement and style of this beautiful Cuban dance tradition — and understand more deeply the roots of the Salsa you already know.
Learn with Maestro Vivio
Maestro Vivio is a professional Cuban dancer, choreographer and teacher with an extensive international career.
He trained at Cuba’s prestigious Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA) in Cuban folkloric dance, contemporary dance and ballet. He went on to become a principal dancer and teacher with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, and a dancer and choreographer for the internationally acclaimed production Lady Salsa.
With a deep understanding of Cuban dance, movement and musicality, Vivio brings his professional experience and authentic Cuban training to the studio, sharing the traditions, techniques and feel behind the dance.

Learn to hear and move with the characteristic Cuban off-beat timing and develop a stronger connection to the music.
💃 Traditional Son footwork & styling
Explore foundational steps, footwork, body movement and styling that form an important part of the Cuban dance vocabulary.
🎶 Musicality & Cuban feel
Discover how Son's rhythm and movement connect to the Salsa you already know, helping you listen, interpret and dance to Cuban music with greater confidence.
This is a chance to slow things down, explore the details and experience the rhythm and elegance of Son Cubano with an internationally experienced Cuban maestro.
Who is it for?
Improver Salsa level or similar, and above.
You don't need to have danced Son before. If you have some Salsa experience and are comfortable with basic partner dancing, you're welcome to join.
👯 No partner required. We will work with different partners during the workshop, with the option to stay with your partner if you prefer.
