“Some People Call Me the Space Cowboy” is an audio documentary conceived around an interdisciplinary image – the Space Cowboy – a marriage of traditional Western frontier exploration and technology-driven space travel. These listening sessions will provide a unique opportunity for modern audiences to gather together, suspend the need for visual stimulus, and listen to a story.
Themes addressed include: What becomes of the American explorative imagination when the moon is a place that is as “Instagrammed” as Monument Valley? If the future of space exploration relies heavily on robots and other non-human technology, what becomes of our Space Cowboys? How can we ensure the future of exploration will not exploit humans nor resources, nor perpetuate systems of inequality?
Listening sessions will start at 4:30pm and again at 5:30pm.
