'People say that what they are seeking is a meaning for life. I don't think that's what we're really seeking. I think that what we're really seeking is an experience of being alive so that our life experience on the purely physical plane will have resonance within our inner-most being and reality so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.'-Joseph Campbell
If you are someone who intellectualizes healing, knows about your patterns and cognitively understands healing concepts, but struggles to feel and embody what you know, this is for you.
In this immersion, you are invited to grow a deeper connection to your felt-sense awareness in the body and feelings; to reconnect with your aliveness and to embody the truth of your inner-being.
Through a mix of lecture and embodied somatic practices, you will embark on a journey of not just understanding concepts, but translating what you understand into an embodied sense of inner wisdom, healing and self-discovery.
This immersion is PRACTICAL-all the theoretical concepts will be paired with embodied practices so you can experience what you learn within the landscape of your body and its felt-sense.
The days will include cognitive learning through lecture as well as embodied learning through movement, somatics, art and interactive connection with others.
What you’ll learn:
- Layers of Human Experience model (gestalt)
- Core concepts in somatic therapy and neuroscience: polyvagal theory, basic brain anatomy, nervous system anatomy & brief neuroscience of trauma
- 4 different levels of felt-sense
how to identify and respond to your body’s stress signals
- simple model of somatic emotional processing that you can implement right away
- somatic practices for nervous system regulation (down and up regulation)
- creating a roadmap for nervous system care and alchemy
- anatomy and function of the Vagus Nerve, vagal regulation practices
- art/creative practices to encourage right-brain processing of emotions
What you'll walk away with:
-a deeper connection to your felt-sense experience: your body’s signals of safety/danger and needs
-somatic toolkit: somatic exercises, breath work and somatic psychology practices for nervous system regulation and healing
-a deeper knowing of your emotional and somatic landscape and hence, more authenticity and groundedness within yourself
-new momentum in self-healing and renewed sense of resilience, hope, self-trust & inner safety
-a deeper connection to your nervous system and agency in alchemizing and regulating nervous system states
Schedule (subject to change):
10am: somatic practice
11am-1pm: lecture and practical application
1-2pm: lunch
2-4pm: lecture, practical application, Q&A
This is for you if:
- you’ve been doing inner work for a while and you understand your patterns, but long to move from intellectual to embodied healing and processing
- you are on a journey of healing from trauma, anxiety, or chronic stress
- you are seeking tools for emotional regulation and nervous system resilience
- you are craving a compassionate, embodied approach to healing and a deeper connection to your body and felt-sense
- you have enough outside resources/support to help with whatever gets touched in the immersion and needs more support after
It is not required, but highly recommended to attend the 'An Embodied Journey into the Nervous System' workshop on March 15 prior to attending the immersion.
