Since the Body Keeps the Score – are you ready to go deeper than talk therapy and move beyond simply knowing or rationalizing mental patterns? Are you willing to reconnect with your body’s felt experience and feel what it has been holding? ✨ Somatic Awakening is a nourishing mini-retreat designed to gently guide you back to your body's innate wisdom and medicine of your own breath to allow the safe & gentle release of stuck energy (i.e. suppressed emotion) and create new, healthier pattern and realign your mind with new choices and possibility.


You will learn more about what we mean by trauma in the body, understand how your traumas (i.e. what happened in your body at the time of the experiences and what didn't happen afterwards) have shaped & impacted your behaviours, perceptions, reactions, relationship patterns & dynamics.


As we compassionatly explore the roots of our 'stuck' patterns from emotional reactions, behaviours, negative thinking/beliefs about ourself, realtionship patterns & dynamics, you will build resileince and safety in body & mind to allow what didn't get to be experienced fully to find it's way towards completion - so it gets heard, seen, supported, nurtured or allowed to become your more authentic expression and truer self. So you can BE more YOU.

It is a full day of integrative & somatic healing:

What are trauma patterns:

Trauma patterns are the ways our mind, body, and behaviour respond to experiences of trauma, often unconsciously, that can show up long after the original event. They are essentially learned survival strategies that helped us cope at the time but can become limiting or harmful in adult life

Recognizing trauma patterns helps us interrupt automatic reactions, impulses & adaptive behaviours.

Examples of adaptive behaviours:

  • Outsider/lone wolf - doing things alone, not trusting easily, feeling like yoiu're on the outside looking in, in head a lot, avoidance
  • People pleasing
  • Over-helping/rescuing
  • Perfectionism
  • Super-person

What will the mini-retreat include:


🌬️ Breathwork Journeys : Across the day, you’ll explore practices that build gently, beginning with breath opening exercises and moving towards a deeply immersive breathwork journey. No experience is needed — you’ll be supported to trust your breath and drift into healing, restorative states.


🧘 Movement & Stillness: Enjoy light integrative yoga led by Sandy, who will guide you through a connective sun salutation sequence, followed by a short yoga nidra meditation to invite deep rest, processing & integration after somatic practices.


🌱 Somatic Practices: Experience trauma-informed somatic exercises that will help you connect more deeply with your body and cultivate lasting healing.


🌊 Nature Connection: We’ll take a mindful silent walk along the canal & reflective journalling allowing integration in the elements.


💞 Inner Child Connection: Through guided practices, you’ll reconnect with your inner child and younger parts of yourself — bringing compassion, healing, and a sense of wholeness.


🫶 Nutritious healthy snacks and herbal teas to start and warming intention setting & a closing ceremony at the end.

Often, when past experiences felt overwhelming, the mind disconnected from the body in order to cope. While this helped us survive and adapt as children, it can keep us stuck in reactive patterns and adaptive behaviours as adults, pulling us away from wholeness and authenticity. Through building safety in the body and fully feeling what was once too much, those experiences can finally complete. From here, the mind becomes a true ally — supporting freedom, conscious choice, and healthier ways of living and relating.

✨ Overview:

This is more than just a mini-retreat — it’s a deep, embodied journey reconnecting you to your true, authentic self. It’s a compassionate & curious self-discovery beneath past wounds, emotional triggers, unconscious patterns and limiting beliefs.


💫 Over five immersive hours, you’ll experience the healing power of breathwork, somatic therapy & inner child healing

I’ve developed a unique Breathwork methodology blended with intentional somatic practices and writing exercises designed to safely guide you into a deep inner journey. As you reconnect to the wisdom of your body, you’ll encounter younger parts of yourself (and even younger adult parts) — whose needs to be seen, heard, understood, soothed, or simply allowed to BE were inconsistently met, inadequately supported, or in some cases, never met at all, in both childhood and even in relationships. These are the parts whose feelings were not fully held, comforted, or allowed to be expressed, and through this work, they are gently invited to be felt and expressed fully to bring us back into wholeness.

When those experiences were overwhelming, frightening, or unsupported, the mind often disconnected from the body in order to cope. This survival response left these parts fragmented in the body, giving rise to protective adaptations such as people-pleasing, perfectionism, overworking, over-helping, avoiding, or shutting down. While these strategies once helped us survive, over time they become ingrained patterns that shape how we feel, relate, and choose in adult life — often keeping us stuck and disconnected from our authentic selves.

In this space, you’ll be gently supported to meet these adaptive parts — the protectors, pleasers, achievers, avoiders, or shutdown parts — with compassion and curiosity. Through breath, somatic awareness, and integration, you’ll begin to restore wholeness, release what no longer serves you, and reclaim the freedom to live and relate from your true self.


👉 This work is not about blaming caregivers or parents, there's no healing and growth in this. It’s about approaching ourselves with curiosity and compassion — gently exploring how we’ve learned and adapted into certain patterns of behaviour, reactions, and cycles of negative thinking or feeling that may once have been 'protective' but not longer serve us.

How does Breathwork support this?

💜 Our breath is unconsciously controlled by the state of our nervous system - when we consciously take control of it, we can connect to the wisdom of the breath and body, and it can support the release stuck energy in the body and nervous system which is often rooted in overwhelming experiences, unexpressed feelings, suppressed emotion and unresolved trauma . As we take control of the breath we can regulate the nervous system, remove excess cortisol & find safety in our bodies again.


The “stuck energy” in the body comes from experiences that were overwhelming, frightening, or unsupported, and as a result, our nervous system holds onto them. Because this energy hasn’t been fully processed or expressed, it can show up in our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours — creating patterns, impulses, or reactions that feel automatic. In other words, our body is still carrying the memory of what happened, and until it’s released and integrated, these patterns keep repeating, even when we consciously want to respond differently.

When we allow ourselves to Breath Feel Heal in a supported way, the experiences that once became “stuck” in the body can begin to complete. This process naturally restores a sense of wholeness and resilience.

From this place of integration, the mind shifts from being a source of overwhelm to becoming a true ally — helping us make conscious, healthier choices that align with our authentic self


What do you mean by trauma?

I’m especially focused on the more subtle, chronic forms of developmental & relational trauma most of us carry to varying degrees. These are the moments we didn’t feel seen, heard, comforted, held, understood or accepted as we were. Over time, especially when these experiences were chronic, unpredictable, or inconsistent — they can create a deep sense of unsafety in the body and disconnection from our true self.

Experiences like:

Being punished, controlled or criticised for expressing emotions or behaving ‘wrongly ‘or just being ourselves

Feeling that love or approval was conditional on performance or behaviour

Being regularly scared, sad or chronically stressed due to parents arguing or a parent being emotionally unpredictable, emotionally unavailable or not present

Not being allowed or feeling safe to express anger, sadness, or joy

These seemingly "normal" experiences can deeply shape our sense of self and often teaches us that it’s not safe to simply BE — to feel, express, or exist. As a result we suppress our needs and feelings, and over time this disconnects us from our true, authentic self.

How can we be fully ourselves if we don’t even know what we feel or need, let alone how to express it?

This somatic breathwork journey offers space to meet those adaptive parts with compassion and curiosity— and begin to change our relationship with them and help discharge the stuck energy beneath them to help shift the patterns that no longer serve you.


What is Somatic and how does it work?

Somatic means body - as we work somatically we can access the felt sense—the body’s wisdom and language of emotions, sensations, impulses, and reactions. By tuning into this internal body experience, we begin to notice where these adaptive patterns and protective responses are stored and how they show up in the body. This deeper awareness allows us to build resilience to step out of these old patterns and understand the root of our limiting beliefs, fears and negative perceptions of ourselves.

As we work somatically we can start to heal the fragmented mind & body connection and use the conscious mind to make new choices and align with our true, authentic self.

You will experience a full session of deep, conscious connected Breathwork to regulate your nervous system, facilitate mind and body healing, release suppressed emotions and/or unresolved trauma, relieve anxiety, stress, depression, and rebalance and reenergise the body. It will help restore safety and trust in the body and mind, and hold space for big or gentle emotional releases and somatic movement. It will also include coaching and therapy tools and practices to learn and take away with you.

What else will happen in the Workshop?

👉 You will learn the science behind Breathwork and understand how it is your internal medicine to improve overall emotional, mental and physical health.

👉 Through various somatic & breath exercises as well as writing exercises, you will connect with your inner child/younger parts of you and experience visualisation meditations to connect to your higher self.

👉 We will do some therapeutic & self-development work around fears, limiting beliefs a d unwanted patterns of behaviours holding you back from your true, authentic self.

👉 You will experience a full deep session of Breathwork (my own methodology designed to support you on this deeper inner journey). It has been carefully curated to offer you the space and somatic support for emotional release. I will teach you somatic release options and you will have sound and movement to support release

👉 We will talk a walk to the beach near by to enjoy a silent meditiation in and around the elements to process our healing. (There will also be time to have lunch)

👉You will take away practices and tools to help manage and alleviate daily anxiety symptoms, build resilience and continue restoring safety and love for yourself to live life with joy, love and courage and be everything you're meant to be, not who you 'think' you're supposed to be.


Are there any Breaks?

Yes, there will be time for a lunch break and depending on the weather we can enjoy lunch at the beach near by. We will be taking a silent meditiation walk up and down the beach, before or after lunch (this will be decided on the day).


IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING LUNCH:

Please pack a LIGHT lunch, as we’ll be moving into a deeper, active breathwork session after lunch. It’s important that you don’t feel overly full or uncomfortable when we start. I recommend having a substantial breakfast in the morning so you can enjoy a lighter lunch comfortably.

There is a lunch menu available at the hotel if you prefer to grab something there, or, if the weather is good and everyone is keen, we could enjoy lunch at the beach.

There is a dinner menu at the hotel to you're welcome to indulge in afterwards.


Accommodation

Can I stay at the hotel?

Yes you can stay at the hotel if you like for an additional cost, if you let them know you're booking in for this mini retreat they may offer a better rate for you. As it's a holiday day you will have to book fast as room availability may be on the lower side. Alternatively, there are lots of air b n b, bed and breakfasts and other smaller hotels near by.

I am a Somatic Trauma Therapist, specialising in developmental (childhood), relational trauma therapy & attachment wound healing. I am also a certified Breathwork practitioner and somatic coach. I take a holistic & somatic approach to healing & self-development and align body and mind healing with subconscious reprogramming of limiting beliefs and negative thought patterns often directing our unwanted behaviours and habits. I also work with anxiety & stress relief and depression recovery support.
