Join us for the incredible opportunity to work on our Balboa technique without a partner. Solo Balboa has been developed by Olga to inspire Balboa dancers and help them learn to practice solo. Solo Balboa is perfect if you want to work on Balboa without needing a partner, explore new footwork variations and develop your own aesthetic. It helps you build body awareness while sharpening technique, musicality and creativity.

13:00-14:00 Part 1 - Pure Balboa
14:00-14:30 Part 1 - Practice Session
14:45-15:45 Part 2 - Out & Ins
15:45-16:15 Part 2 - Practice Session
Part 1 - Pure Balboa: We’ll explore different shuffles and releases in Pure Balboa to add more texture, clarity and variety to your footwork.
Part 2 - Out & Ins: This class is all about the famous Balboa out-ins. We'll work with the flow and play with different rhythms and shapes, helping your out-ins feel smoother and more musical.
Practice Sessions after Classes: In the guided practice sessions, we'll first clean up basics and then bring the solo ideas into partner dancing. You’ll explore how they work in connection with another person - so you feel more confident, playful and versatile on the social floor. For these practice sessions, you’re expected to be familiar with basic Balboa flows (uphold Basic, downhold Basic and Out & Ins). If you’re comfortable both leading and following these basic patterns, you’re very welcome to register as a Switch dancer.

Sunday Stomp - Fast Feed Social after the workshop: After the workshop, join us just around the corner for our brand new Fast Feet Social Sunday Stomp at the Old Spring Pub (1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB), running from 16:30 to 19:30. Come along for food, drinks and plenty of dancing. Entry is £3 (free for workshop participants).

Who is Olga Marina?
Olga was born into a family of teachers and since early years has been an energetic live wire – studying music, doing athletics, martial arts and gymnastics. Since 2007, she has been actively travelling the globe in pursuit of more opportunities to dance, learn and compete. Later she began to share her love for swing music and dance by teaching. Now Olga is the international balboa instructor, teaching solo and couple Balboa all over the world. At her classes she pays a lot of attention to getting the students interested and involved by giving challenging and fun tasks, working both on technique and musicality and infecting them even more with the love of dancing. For the time being she is passionately developing a new direction of swing dance practices – iSoloBalboa – offline and online solo classes for balboa leaders and followers which aim at polishing up technique and developing creativity and musicality.
