SOLD OUT!
PLYMOUTH SCREENING! Where is the W? What is the W? 'W : A Return to Oz', an exploration into the famous Warehouse Club. QnA with Director.
Witness the rise and fall of The Warehouse, a rave venue from Plymouth and times gone by now reduced to a derelict shell. We explore its history, its people and the future. An amateur filmmaker-explorer finds the building in an empty derelict state, long after the prosperous life and energy it endured through the 90s. Through a combination of archives and stories of people who lived there, the film explores through the medium of analogue what once was and how even a now silent derelict shell can become the centre of the universe.
Come join us for a high demand additional screening of W : A Return to Oz in Plymouth. The film will be screened at the cosy and premium cinema Everyman Plymouth at Royal William Yard. The film will be held in Screen 3.
We are joined with Phatmedia Dave, an author, local rave historian and archivist, interviewing director and editor Daniel Howard-Baker.
Phatmedia Dave had recently published his book UK Rave Flyers 1988 – 1989, showcasing original flyers from the breakthrough years of UK acid house. Sourced from the phatmedia archive and beyond, it captures the raw energy of a scene that exploded from underground parties into a nationwide movement. You can purchase the book at the screening or online via Velocity Press.
