Davina Sowers and the Vagabonds have made a name for themselves on the national and international music scene with high-energy live shows, top-tier musicianship, and Davina Sowers’ commanding stage presence. Drawing from influences like Fats Domino, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Aretha Franklin, and Tom Waits, the band blends jazz, blues, soul, and Americana into a sound that feels both timeless and immediate. From Vancouver to Miami and across Europe, they continue to win over audiences one show at a time.
Formed in 2004, Davina and the Vagabonds grew out of Sowers’ unlikely and hard-won journey, shaped by early exposure to classic jazz and blues, a love of rock and folk, and a fierce devotion to music as her lifelong calling. Today, the band shines everywhere they play, having performed in forty-five states, twelve European countries, and two Canadian provinces. Along the way, they’ve earned acclaim from outlets like NPR and the Chicago Tribune, appeared on BBC’s Later… With Jools Holland, and performed on PBS’s Bluegrass Underground.
