Solarpunk Summit Presents: Curawaka in Austin TX
About this Event
CURAWAKA: An Evening of Sacred World Music
There are some artists whose music is meant to be heard, and others whose music asks to be entered.
Curawaka is the latter.
Join us for a rare and intimate evening with Curawaka, the internationally beloved ensemble whose music moves between concert, prayer, celebration, and remembrance.
Describing their sound as Sacred World Music, Curawaka weaves indigenous and Latin American musical traditions with soaring Scandinavian melodies, acoustic instrumentation, ancestral rhythms and the luminous voice of vocalist and songwriter Anna Bariyani.
Their songs carry stories of the Earth, ancestral wisdom and humanity's relationship with the living world. Across cultures and continents, Curawaka's music has found its way into gatherings, dance floors, firesides, moments of prayer and spaces devoted to remembering something deeper.
Experiencing Curawaka live is something altogether different.
Flutes, charango, guitars, percussion and voices build into an immersive musical journey that moves between profound stillness and ecstatic celebration. At times you may find yourself listening in complete silence. At others, singing, dancing and becoming part of the music yourself.
The boundary between artist and audience begins to soften.
We listen. We sing. We move. We remember.
This is an invitation to gather around music as humans have gathered around music for thousands of years: to celebrate life, reconnect with one another, listen more deeply and make space for the sacred.
Come prepared to listen deeply, sing loudly, dance freely and experience Curawaka in the way their music is perhaps best understood:
Together.
