Softening into Safety: Healing the Healer in You
About this Event
Softening into Safety: Healing the Healer in You
Join ceremonial priestess & prophetic altar artist, BriJoRae’ Pusch-Zuniga, alongside yoga teacher & reiki practitioner Misha Reed, for Softening into Safety: Healing the Healer in You
Held at Topeka's new holistic wellness center, Studio 1108 (formerly Top of the Tower), Softening into Safety is a New Moon in Cancer aligned experience for tired healers in need of sewing the same love they sew into the world, into themselves.
Mirroring the hidden light of the New Moon, we will turn inward & away from the exposure of the world, for a spacious moment of deep, restorative ceremony & authentic self-love.
THE EXPERIENCE: HOW WE WILL SOFTEN
(Sacred Ceremony & Earthen Sanctuary, Botanical Cacao, Meditation & Restorative Yoga, Journaling & Sound Medicine)
SACRED CEREMONY
Opening our experience with a reflective Beauty for Ashes ceremony, you will be gently guided to hold space for Sacred Self, before an earthen mirror, looking yourself in the eyes with love & openness of heart, while experiencing an energetic cleansing ritual with sacred herbal smoke (blessed sage or palo santo). During this time, you are encouraged to allow yourself an internal moment of truth- silently allowing yourself be honest about how you feel, what you see within your own relfection & what you feel you need from this moment of safe & sacred surrender... Whether it be to release negative energies, allow yourself time to be poured into, or simply be silent & still with Self, whatever your needs- we honor You & are already holding space for your sacred Way.
BOTANICAL CACAO & YOUR EARTHEN ALTAR
After your energy cleanse, you'll be gently guided to take your sacred seat of practice within our earthen altar space. As a prophetic earthen altar artist, BriJoRae' will have created and prayed over a grounding sanctuary space just for you- a place to lay on soft vegan furs, connect with the earth by slowly sipping a warm cup of Dark Rose Cacao, and hold the Light of meditative sensory rest within your Being... enveloped in the scents of soft essential oils, blessed altar flowers and the presence of hand selected crystals - your gifts to take home. Each sanctuary space will also be blessed with a hand-crafted earthen art piece- a wood framed nature photograph overgrown in real, preserved moss.
Resting the Senses:
Hearing- finding rest in sacred silence... gentle meditation & sound bath
Sight- peering out of large 11th floor, open sky windows, while surrounded by earthen altar pieces
Touch- let your hands pass over soft rose petals & vegan furs, as you slowly find safe surrender, held by the strength of of the ground during somatic yoga and expansive rest
Taste- organic honey, edible flowers & the sacred cacao fruit as well as other new moon inspired, healthy fare
Scent- inhale deeply, spaciously placed earthen incense & a light essential oil mist, soft & woody palo santo balanced with real florals - fire, water, earth and air blended in love & intention, to seal your earthen sensory experience
MEDITATION & RESTORATIVE YOGA
After each honored guest has experienced our sacred silent ceremony, our loving yoga teacher, Misha, will gently & slowly guide us into meditation and a 45-60 minute restorative yoga practice. This practice will allow you time and space within your own body, to somatically feel, stretch and move healing energy into the space of any physical, mental, or emotional discomforts that may be asking you for love. As you take time to open up in the holistic body, you will be washed in light moments of sound medicine and aroma therapy to aid the depths of your breathing & healing.
NEW MOON JOURNALING
After a deep savasana, we will take a light break & enjoy nourishing refreshments, while preparing for a New Moon inspired journaling session.
SOUND BATH
After journaling, we will put away our thoughts and dive into a spacious & meditative 45-60 minute sound ceremony. BriJoRae' will guide us inward with the sounds of crystal singing bowls, chimes, an ocean drum and a gong beautifully named, the Dark Star. Towards the end of our sound ceremony, we will take some extra space to rest in sacred silence, before gently moving into closing meditation.

SACRED EARTHEN ELEMENTS OF YOUR EXPERIENCE
THE NEW MOON: Illuminating Darkness & Acknowledging it's Okay to Not always be Okay
Astrologers suggest that a New Moon in Cancer is a highly intuitive, nurturing lunar phase focused on emotional resets, home life, and self-care. It invites you to lean into vulnerability, strengthen your support systems, and establish a safe, internal sanctuary to process your feelings.
The new moon happens when the moon passes between the earth and the sun, causing us to only see the dark side of the moon… yet we know as earthen beings, that the light will soon return... we need only be patient with the darkness.
Darkness can be frightening at times... even our own shadows can cause us a bit of discomfort if we are unfamiliar with them... and yet through the witness of how nature embraces darkness as a moment to honor rest and recover, we can learn to honor our shadows as a beautiful reminder of our Light. Especially as healing healers- those who shine so brightly for the world, at times even risking burn out for the passions we hold so dear... it is deeply important to remember we deserve & require space for honest recovery and acknowledgement of our whole selves- even the parts of us that are not always so flowery and vibrant... or are just too tired to "be the light" today.
So... flowing in the wisdom of the New Moon, we honor this time with our breath, through gentle reflection & holistic rest... thus, honoring both our light & our shadows with the medicine of authentic & patient renewal... a pathway to true peace, balance & restoration.
For the heart that struggles to forgive & be forgiven... or to release perfection: remember too... in the dark of night, there are creatures who have evolved into embodied light- bioluminescent, they transform shadow into purpose. They illuminate the darkness ( at their most luminous during a New Moon) simply by Being... teaching us that even darkness can lead to a most beautiful evolution. Sometimes it is the transformation & artistic cultivation of our darkness that births the most luminous medicine. Can you let your heart have whatever it needs? Can it be okay to not always be okay... ...to sometimes need rest and reciprocity?
We invite you into the same breath that has held us: breathe in... and breathe out. You're not alone... ...and you are deeply cherished.
SACRED HERBAL SMOKE: SAGE & PALO SANTO
SAGING (also sometimes referred to as smudging) is an ancient spiritual ritual utilizing aromatic smoke to purify the air, clear negative energies, and promote healing and calmness. While smudging is an ancient Indigenous practice used all over the earth, for spiritual cleansing, modern research has highlighted several tangible physical & scientific benefits linked to the practice including the reduction of airborne bacteria and neurological & mood elevation through aromatherapy.
PALO SANTO is a wild tree native to Mexico, Central America, and northwestern South America. Known for its fragrant wood, it like sage, is commonly used for incense, essential oils, and spiritual smudging.
DARK ROSE CACAO
ROSE herbal infusions are made from the dried petals or whole buds of the rose flower. Traditionally revered for its cooling, uplifting qualities, this elegant drink has been used for centuries to promote emotional balance and a sense of openhearted calm. In herbal traditions around the world, rose is considered both a beauty and mood ally—known to support the nervous system, invite gentle ease, and nourish the heart space eith every delicate sip.
CACAO ritual is a mindful, heart-opening practice rooted in ancient Meso & South American traditions. Unlike standard hot chocolate or heavily processed candy bars, ceremonial cacao is crafted from pure, hand-crushed raw cacao paste. CONNECTING WITH YOUR CRYSTALS
(each guest will be gifted selenite and one of the other three gems placed in the personal altar space that calls to you)
SELENITE: a transparent, crystalline variety of the mineral gypsum. It is renowned for its pale, moon-like pearly glow, which inspired its name from the Greek word selēnē (moon). It is highly valued in holistic practices for cleansing and spiritual clarity.
ANGELITE: a soft, sky-blue crystal known as the "Stone of Awareness". Primarily sourced from Peru, it is cherished in spiritual practices for promoting peace, enhancing communication, and connecting with higher realms. Its powdery, pale-blue hues closely mirror the calm of the sky.
BLUE ONYX: a rare, visually striking variety of banded chalcedony (quartz) featuring layered oceanic hues ranging from pale aquamarine to deep sapphire, often accented by white, gray, or brown veins. Highly prized for its beauty and calming energy, it is used for both statement home decor and crystal healing.
ORANGE CARNELIAN: a vibrant, translucent to opaque variety of chalcedony quartz, famous for its rich hues ranging from pale orange to deep reddish-brown. Prized since antiquity, it is primarily valued for boosting creativity, restoring vitality, and promoting courage

HOLDING SACRED SPACE FOR YOURSELF PRIOR TO CEREMONY
Once your heart, mind & body have said yes to this sacred experience, you've already stepped into ceremony. Life is ceremony- just as life is sacred. While in no way a requirement, we would like to invite you to begin- even now -uncovering ways to gift yourself sacred space & silence as your softening journey begins to unfold.
A few Ways to Begin to Soften:
-Deep Breathing: Our breath is never far away. Try taking a deep breath even now... and in any moment you find it helpful to do so, remember your breath is your sacred pause... take as many intentionally deep inhales & exhales as you like.
-Meditation: Whether it's 60 seconds with your headphones on or laying in your bed, engaging in a 30 minute guided meditation from YouTube, maybe try to find a moment to (re)introduce yourself to the gentle medicine of meditation. Soften the mind... the soul... & relax the body.
-Journaling: Sometimes we've just got too much going on in our minds... and one simple way to get it all out, is to just write... no perfect format & you don't even have to keep it. You could simply write out your thoughts exactly as they enter your mind & set an intention to let them rest there on the page... for now, maybe no "guidance" is helpful... you can just fluidly be with your thoughts... and Misha will back you up with some meditative thoughts when we see you.
-Quiet Time & Earthen Connection: One of Bri's favorite ways to reset, is to simply sit in sacred silence, preferably yet not always, in nature. Though the world is full of sounds, we can always throw on a pair of headphones in a safe & sacred corner or find a quiet sanctuary in nature where all we hear is the birds, the wind and the breath of Earth. Whatever your Way into silence, let it be spacious. We can intentionally & gently, set aside thoughts for a time and choose to sit within the restorative openess of silence. Even when sounds come into that space, we can choose to notice them & intentionally release them from our energy... returning to the resilient rest of non-doing.
-Take a Bath: Slow down from the rushed shower... run the water slowly & listen to it pouring into the tub. Maybe add some flowers and bring the fixings for a cup of tea... and then... just sit with Self. Let the water do, what water does... help us return to our ancient roots... where the fluidity of life is sacred and the softness of water is Who & What we are... let everything else fade into the background so you can just Be.

Lastly, yet at the center of our hearts, manifested within our connection to the Earth & the spirit of Love we hope to always engage with & embody:
We acknowledge that we gather on Indigenous land: the traditional territory of the first people of Topeka, the Kanza (Kaw) people. We honor with gratitude the living Earth itself and the Kanza Tribe, past, present & future.
We also honor the cultures from around the Earth who have shared their wisdom and helped instruct the medicine we are now humbled to share with you.
As brown women, we stand in solidarity, love and honor. We hope to embody the same faith and truths our earthen ancestors fought for & our brothers and sisters are still fighting to preserve.
