After the wonderful success of the first Sofia (bal)FOLK WEEKEND in spring 2025, we’re excited to open registration for its second edition. This year, we invite you to join us for an extended weekend dedicated to traditional folk music from across Europe and the vibrant world of the mixed balfolk and Balkan traditions. To keep the atmosphere intimate and welcoming, participation is limited to just 25 spots.
Our aim is to bring together local and international musicians and dancers who share a passion for folk traditions, giving you the chance to learn directly from inspiring artists and culture-bearers. And of course, we’ll make plenty of space for playing, singing, and dancing.
The programme includes workshops in Bulgarian, Romanian, and Balfolk music and dance, with each evening culminating in live concerts designed for dancing. You will have the chance also to mark your interest and if more than 5 participants have a similar interest we will organize a theme based workshop on this specific interest.
For this edition, we are thrilled to welcome Hora din Bătrâni from Romania, Armés de l’Être from Belgium/Bulgaria, Grêle from France, Folqué? from Spain and our beloved Balfolkariya House Band, for the last time in their original set.

След прекрасния успех на първия Sofia (bal)FOLK WEEKEND през пролетта на 2025 г., с радост откриваме регистрацията за неговото второ издание. Тази година ви каним на дълъг уикенд, посветен на традиционната фолклорна музика от различни европейски региони и пъстрия свят на балфолка. За да запазим атмосферата уютна и приятелска, местата са ограничени до 25 участници.
Нашата цел е да съберем на едно място местни и международни музиканти и танцьори, които споделят страст към фолклорните традиции, и да ви дадем възможност да учите директно от вдъхновяващи артисти и носители на култура. А разбира се, ще има много време за свирене, пеене и танцуване заедно в оживената столица на България.
Програмата включва уъркшопи по българска, румънска и балфолк музика и танци, а всяка вечер ще завършва с концерти за танцуване.
В това издание с голямо удоволствие посрещаме Hora din Bătrâni от Румъния, Armés de l’Être от Белгия, Grele от Франция, Folque? от Испания и нашата местна Balfolkariya House Band, за последен път в оригиналния си състав.
