Social Walk from YHA Manchester
This watery walk from the heart of Manchester will include the Bridgewater Canal, MediaCity, the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Irwell. Heritage highlights include Castlefield Basin and Roman Fort, the Imperial War Museum North and Ordsall Hall (a Tudor manor house).
The route samples parts of Stages 1 and 20 of the GM Ringway, Greater Manchester's 200-mile walking trail.
Travel by public transport is recommended, as Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop and Deansgate station are only 10 minutes’ walk from Manchester YHA Hostel. Free Bus 1 (from Manchester Piccadilly) also stops nearby.

Info: Attendees can enjoy free teas, coffees, soft drinks and cakes at YHA Manchester in Castlefield before we set off.

YHA Social Walk
Info: Andrew Read, founder of the GM Ringway, Greater Manchester's walking trail, will lead the group on a 6-mile (9-km) circular walk all the way to MediaCity, Salford. There we will take a short break for toilets and to purchase any refreshments needed at The Lowry arts centre, before continuing via beautiful Ordsall Hall back to Manchester.
