They say that consistency is the name of the game if you want something to become a habit. It's with this idea in mind that I am adding a WEEKLY visit to the Pemberton Community Garden to my schedule.
Schedule:
3pm - PRODUCE/ITEM SWAP and share. Bring anything that you would like to give away. It can be anything from food from your garden, preserves, seeds, travel cups you no longer need, baked goods etc. There is absolutely no pressure to bring anything. Please, don't think you can't come along if you have nothing to give.
3.15pm - SOCIAL GARDENING. The idea is to build consistency by coming together to keep the garden looking great, one slice at a time.
1) it will hopefully stop the space becoming run down, overgrown, and produce going to waste.
2) it will become an inviting space for the community to drop in for a friendly chat, hopefully a spot of gardening and perhaps sign up to become a member.
You do not need to stay for the entire 45mins. Come for 10mins if that's all you have spare. You also do not always need to get your hands dirty. Come along for a chat and join in the social aspect of being part of a community.
