I first tried this route last year, but the weather that morning was rather wet and only one brave soul turned up to start the ride.
However after the morning showers the day warmed up nicely, so for almost everyone reading this, you won’t have done this route before.
We are going to head up into Gloucestershire this September, starting from the Podium Place Café in Newbury , we are going to take some national speed limit A roads over to Andover and them up towards Devizes.
Around 10:30 we should arrive at the Rowdey Cow Farm Café for a spot of coffee and ice cream. From there we will wind our way up towards and pass over the M4 on the A46, before diverting for a short time onto some more interesting B roads. At Avening we pick up a lovely winding road before we stop at the Weighbridge Inn at Nailsworth around 1PM.
From Nailsworth we will head up towards Stroud on another lovely winding road before we start heading east on some more rural roads for a short while until we can cross the A417 and head into the bigger roads at North Cerney.
We’ll pause for a fuel stop after approx. 130 miles in Lechlade and continue making our way back to Newbury from here, with around another 45 minutes riding remaining.
