About the Speaker
Dr. Kevin Gary spent ten years as a high school teacher before becoming a college professor. As a teacher of future teachers and school leaders, he understands the challenges educators face. He draws from the works of classical and contemporary thinkers for practical wisdom.
Dr. Gary's book Why Boredom Matters takes on one of the biggest adversaries of learning and human flourishing, whether in the classroom or outside of it. Dr. Gary teaches Classical Education at Hillsdale College, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in philosophy of education, the history of liberal education, as well logic and rhetoric. Last spring, he taught a seminar on the writings of G.K. Chesterton and C.S. Lewis. He has a Ph.D. in philosophy of education from Loyola University Chicago, as well as an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola and an M.A. in Systematic Theology from the University of Notre Dame.
