Social Justice in Communities Speaker Series: Cristian Moreno-Rodriguez
About this Event
Cristian Moreno-Rodriguez, a grassroots organizer, movement builder, and dedicated advocate for immigrant and working-class communities. Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, to immigrant parents from Oaxaca, Mexico, Cristian's experiences inspired him to begin organizing in 2018 and advocating for immigrant rights across New Jersey.
In December 2019, Cristian founded El Pueblo Unido of Atlantic City y Pueblos Cercanos, a grassroots organization that has supported thousands of immigrant families, workers, tenants, and youth through legal, social, and educational services. What began as an effort to connect families with essential resources has grown into a movement focused on community empowerment, leadership, and justice.
In December 2025, Cristian helped launch Defensa del Barrio, a community defense initiative providing Know Your Rights education, rapid response mobilization, and support for families affected by immigration enforcement. Join us as Cristian shares his experiences in grassroots organizing, community advocacy, and the power of collective action to create meaningful change.
