Rainbow Reels is Snovalley Pride’s ongoing queer film series celebrating LGBTQ+ storytelling on the big screen. From laugh-out-loud comedies to powerful coming-of-age stories and thought-provoking documentaries, Rainbow Reels creates a welcoming space for our community to gather, connect, and experience meaningful films together.
Join us on Wednesday, April 22nd for a screening of 'Paris is Burning', a groundbreaking documentary that offers an intimate look at New York City’s ballroom scene in the 1980s.
About the Film:
Centered around the Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities who created this vibrant underground culture, the film follows drag queens, trans women, and house “families” as they compete in elaborate balls celebrating fashion, performance, and self-expression.
Through candid interviews and unforgettable moments on the runway, 'Paris Is Burning' explores themes of identity, chosen family, race, class, gender, and the pursuit of the American Dream. Both celebratory and deeply honest, the film honors the resilience, creativity, and cultural influence of a community that forever shaped queer history.
Come early, grab your seat, and settle in for a night of laughter, community, and pride!
