What: a Brown Bag study and discussion of each Sunday’s upcoming preaching scriptures. Weekly scripture is available at: https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/ , or just search for “revised common lectionary”.
When: Each Wednesday from noon until 1:15 PM. To attend in person: come to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 1333 Belt Line Rd, Garland, TX 75040. To attend remotely: Please contact Spencer Dawkins at +1 214 755 3870 for Zoom coordinates
● Spencer or Shirley will be signed in by 11:45, in case you have a problem joining
What else is good to know?
● Most weeks, we read four lectionary scriptures for each upcoming Sunday.
● The Revised Common Lectionary is used by many Christian denominations around the world
● If you invite someone from a denomination that doesn’t use the Revised Common Lectionary, Sneak Peeks will be a perfectly reasonable three-year Bible study for them Who should come to Sneaking Peeks at Scripture?
● Gloria Dei Lutheran Church hosts in-person attendees, but it’s not especially a Lutheran study
● We have remote attendees on Zoom from as far away as Ukraine
● You can do the readings before we meet, but you aren’t expected to - come anyway!
● You don’t have to come every week. Jesus didn’t take roll at the Sermon on the Mount Meet your host: Spencer Dawkins
● Certified lay servant in the Horizon Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church
● Not a lifelong Methodist - Spencer was born into Disciples of Christ, and migrated
● Spencer isn’t pushing any particular denomination’s theology
● Spencer claims some biblical knowledge, but does not claim biblical authority
● We promise you won’t just hear The Gospel According To Spencer!
