PDDUK SMOKY MOUNTAINS TOUR 6TH-10TH MAYAfter another successful visit to the Smoky Mountains, we are excited to host a driving tour there in Spring 2026.
Join the PDDUK gang on an unforgettable road trip to the United States where we have a jam packed 5 day driving tour across the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee.
Drive the famous Tail of the Dragon with 318 curves in 11 miles.
The picturesque Cherohala skyway, the hellbender, Smoky loop, blue ridge parkway, franklin loop, moonshiners run plus much much more.
You are staying just outside of Bryson city, the gateway into the Smoky Mountains.
We have reserved beautiful riverside x1 bed cabins with everything you need to make you feel at home.
Enjoy a BBQ cookout with the gang, sit around the firepit taking sips of moonshine whilst listening to some deep south blues music.
Throughout the trip you are blessed with mind blowing roads with nonstop twists and turns, some of the best we have ever driven. Breathtaking views, tons of wildlife, fun activities and delicious food.
Day 1. 6th May
You are to make your own way to the starting location in Bryson city, North Carolina.
We have a selection of rentals to choose from at surrounding airports.
(Please note that Porsches are limited but we have plenty of other sports cars to hire.)
Once you have arrived you can relax and get acquainted with your travel buddies at the evening welcome party.
Day 2. 7th May
Kickstarting the day with a drive into town for a hearty breakfast before we take you out onto the Smokey Loop, a 2-hour scenic driving route in Tennessee with some magnificent curves through the Foothills Parkway.
Stopping off at Hub 129 along the way before we enter the dragon.
Tail of the Dragon, an impressive road boasting 318 curves in just 11 miles. This is certainly not for the faint hearted at speed, it will keep the driver on their toes that’s for sure.

Once you have made it to the other side of the dragon and back into Northern Carolina we are stopping at the Killboy shop, here you can purchase photos from your drive along the dragon and a large selection of merchandise.
For lunch we are going to the historic Tapoco Lodge.
The afternoon drive takes you to Santeetlah lake for a drive up the dragon’s spine. A road used for hillclimb events with spectacular views from the top overlooking the Smoky Mountains.
Stopping in Fontana village for an iced tea before we go to Fontana Dam for a group photo.
Making our way back to Bryson City we are driving the Hellbender, you can relax for a couple of hours at your cabin before heading out for dinner.
Day 3. 8th May
Today’s adventure takes you on a 5-hour drive through some of the best routes in the Smokey’s.
Starting with the Franklin Loop through the Appalachian Trail. Stopping for lunch at a Riverside restaurant before heading into Tennessee via the Cherohala Skyway.
Taking you for another run over the Dragon then stopping off at Deals Gap for souvenirs and a photo with the tree of shame.
Back to the cabins for relaxation.
In the evening, we have a catering company booked in to cook us a delicious BBQ.
Day 4. 9th May
You have the morning off to explore Bryson city or maybe take a drive over the Blue Ridge Parkway and with some luck you might spot some elk.
Meeting up for an afternoon drive over to Highlands via the Cashier Spur route with some magnificent waterfalls along the way.
Enjoy a drive back via Nantahala Lake stopping for refreshments before heading back to the cabins.
For the final night, we are booked into a local restaurant.
Day 5. 10th May

This is not included in the price and must book it yourselves; we will provide you with the details. Rental prices start from £1000.

Return flights from London Heathrow start from £700.
Driving requirements.
Plastic uk driving license is fine, if you have a paper version you will have to apply for an international driver's permit.
Visa
If travelling from the Uk you will have to apply for a ETSA Visa.
It is your responsibility to check all your own travel requirements.
Tipping.
Tipping is part of the culture here and after Hurricane Helene, they really do need it.
Average tipping for food/services is 15-25%
Fuel.
Fuel is not included, and you should budget £400 for a full week if you were driving from Atlanta.

Welcome buffet on the first evening.
BBQ on day 3.
Meals are not included, we are staying in self-catering cottages, Bryson city is also 5 minutes away which has plenty of shops and restaurants.
Activities?
Budget £200 per person for activities as there are several you can do.
Weather, during May the temperature averages between 18-28 degrees.
All cabins have controlled air conditioning.
Clothing.
No special requirements for this tour, we are keeping it comfy and casual.
